Food Design Challenge
The VHETTA Food Design Challenge 2008 encourages students to design, create and produce healthy original recipes. All students from prep to year 12 are invited to take up the food design challenge. There are fabulous prizes for you and your school. Entries close Friday 18 April 2008.
Macmillan Education is providing $4,000 worth of student prizes including CD/DVD vouchers, a great selection of Macmillan books a copy of the commemorative edition of Cookery the Australian Way. Sunbeam is providing a fabulous range of kitchen and outdoor appliances for schools.

VHETTA Study Tours
IFHE Pre-Congress Tour to Italy and IFHE Centenary Congress, 11 July - 3 August 2008
VHETTA is conducting a Pre-Congress tour to Italy prior to the IFHE Centenary Congress to be held in Lucerne Switzerland. The tour and Congress will be held during the first three weeks of term 3, 2008. We already have more than 30 participants however anyone wishing to join the group can still do so if they contact Carol Warren carol@vhetta.com.au by the end of October 2007.

World Home Economics Day
Throughout the world, Home Economics is celebrated each year on 21 March. The International Federation for Home Economics (IFHE) initiated World Home Economics Day as a worldwide celebration of the Home Economics profession. The IFHE is an International Non Governmental Organisation (INGO) in consultative status with the United Nations (ECOSOC, FAO, UNESCO, UNICEF) and with the Council of Europe.
Derived from the UN Decade of Education for Sustainable Development (DESD) 2005-2014, the theme for World Home Economics Day 2005 is Home Economics: Supporting sustainable development and quality of life for all.

Larnook Ex-Students Association Events
Larnook Teachers College, Melbourne was established in 1952 to train teachers of home economics and textiles for secondary schools in the state of Victoria. The Larnook Ex-Students’ Association was formed in 1956 as a way of keeping new teachers in contact with each other for emotional and professional support. Nowadays, it is more a means of individuals keeping in contact with their year level colleagues.

Annual subscriptions are $15.00 (no GST) This entitles you to two bulletins each year representing information from years 1952-1982. Reunions are organised by year representatives and these dates will appear on this website. The Executive has recently completed a book on the history of Larnook from its beginning in 1952 until its closure in 1982.

Annual General Meeting
Our Annual General Meeting will be held on Saturday 3 May and will offer breathtaking views of Melbourne from the top of the Rialto Tower. Attendance includes your admission charge, access to the observation deck and the opportunity to view the spectacular film on Melbourne the Living City. We hope you can join us for breakfast and our AGM as we celebrate 50 years of Home Economics Victoria.
