Our Role
The mission of Home Economics Victoria is to promote excellence within the learning and teaching of home economics, health, food and textiles technologies and hospitality by providing leadership, support and services to educators. In late 2008, VHETTA changed its name to HOME ECONOMICS VICTORIA. This website will be updated in 2008.
In 2008, Home Economics Victoria (formerly HETG and VHETTA) celebrates 50 years of service to Victorian teachers. Join us at our special birthday dinner on Thursday 15 May to be held at the RACV City Club.

Positions Vacant
VHETTA requires a full-time Curriculum Officer to assist in planning, designing, implementing and marketing of accredited training, professional learning and publications. Requires teaching (including VET) experience. This position will suit a motivated and highly organised person who can demonstrate a strong ability to multi-task and take ownership of the role. Applications close Friday 2 November 2007.

About Us
The Victorian Home Economics and Textiles Teachers'
Association (VHETTA) is a membership-based, not-for-profit professional association for teachers, which has been operating since 1958.
VHETTA provides its members with a range of services and publications including four newsletters and two journals per year, discounted professional development workshops, curriculum packages, discounted resources, access to library resources and curriculum advice.
VHETTA operates an office with professional staff that have extensive experience in developing curriculum material and professional development activities. The Association is overseen by a voluntary Board of Directors, all of whom have qualifications in Home Economics.

The VHETTA offices are located in the Melbourne suburb of Mount Waverley in the state of Victoria, Australia. The complex includes an air-conditioned conference facility for up to 50 participants, and an extensive library of Home Economics resources.

VHETTA Awards
VHETTA has developed an Acknowledgment of Service policy to recognise and acknowledge the contribution of directors, staff, members, volunteers and friends of VHETTA. There are three types of awards; Service Awards, Suzanne Russell Leadership Award and Life Membership.
A Service Award is presented to an individual who has provided significant service to the Association in such areas as; curriculum writing, presenting at professional development sessions, providing assistance at professional development sessions, participating in working parties or in any other capacity deemed appropriate by the nominator and the Awards Committee.

The Suzanne Russell Leadership Award is awarded to an individual who demonstrates the qualities of; vision; guidance; advice; committment to social justice; honesty; and integrity to an exceptionally high level within VHETTA and the home economics profession.

Life Membership is awarded to an individual who has made an outstanding contribution to VHETTA, home economics education in Victoria and to the home economics profession such that their contribution has impacted positively on the way home economics education in Victoria is perceived.

VHETTA is committed to protecting the privacy
of its members and non-members by ensuring that the security of personal
information is maintained within the organisation. VHETTA endorses the National
Privacy Principles (set out in amendments to the Privacy Act 1988 which came
into being on 21 December 2001) and has adopted them in its management of
